Wedding Trend: Decor Inspired By Wallpaper

It’s been a while since I’ve made a bold and dazzling wedding trend prediction. But as I was cruising the internet for new wallpaper the other day, I could not help but notice how FABULOUS the latest and greatest wallpaper patterns. Whimsical, colourful, thematic and beautifully illustrated, I was blown away! And as I continued to cruise (ok, spend an entire afternoon) searching wallpaper, I found myself seeing more and more patterns with colour palettes that were strikingly familiar. As in – on trend for 2017 weddings. And then my little imagination got whirling away, and I started thinking about all the places you could use a fabulous wallpaper in your wedding. Ready? Stay with me, now!

TABLE RUNNER

This is definitely an easy one – most wallpapers run approximately 18” wide, and that’s the ideal width for a table runner. Instead of adding visual depth through your centre piece decor, let the wallpaper do the talking at your reception tables. Wallpaper would work best as a table runner for family style seating, don’t you think?

Photo Booth Backdrop

Der. Roll it out, hang it up and add a little scotch tape to the back and voila! A custom photo booth backdrop! The large scale prints of wall paper means they’ll have plenty of pop in photos, and the weight of the paper is great for added durability. You know, in case one of the groomsmen gets a little too excited and falls backward through it.

Aisle Runner

Call me crazy but I think this could really work. What a fabulous and eye catching piece of ceremony decor wallpaper would be!! But in terms of functionality, I can’t promise anything – hearing paper crunch as your float down the aisle isn’t ideal. But, what if you made a nice lane from wallpaper that you exacto-knife’d in half? They could serve as a super funky boarder!

Pocket Squares

You know pocket squares don’t have to be fabric, right? Measure out and cut some squares of carboard that will fit into the breast pocket of your babe’s suit, and cover them with wall paper. Make sure the wall paper fully covers the top of the cardboard though – you don’t want edges fringing.
