We first fell in love with Neil and Monti when we discovered they tied the knot on the 10th anniversary of their first date. How sweet is that?? Then we felt like we knew them after looking at their wedding photos from f8 photography – the look of love in their eyes is absolutely undeniable! Their urban wedding was filled with vibrant orange details (we can never resist grooms in smart, coordinating suits). Their wedding was a love affair played out in two acts – Act I was a ceremony in the Engineered Air Theatre at Arts Commons which included a (surprise!) performance from Cowtown Opera Company. From the grooms:
We were married on the ten year anniversary of our first date, and saw this wedding as a celebration of our love and commitment to eachother over the past decade. It was a magical day, surrounded by all of our friends and family. Highlighting our love for musical theater and a flair for the dramatic, our wedding was set up into two acts- Act I: The Ceremony at Arts Commons and Act II: The Reception at Teatro. Both of the venues are Calgary landmarks, and because we are both third generation Calgarians, we wanted our celebration to honour the city we love. The moment that our dream wedding truly became a fairy tale was early in Act I, as both of us were walking down the aisle towards our wedding party on stage. The pre-recorded processional music “accidentally” cut out and had to be restarted. Instead of starting the music over again, singers from Calgary’s Cowtown Opera Company stepped out of the shadows into the light and serenaded us with their rendition of “Seasons of Love”. A surprise from one groom to the other, incorporating live, local musicians into the wedding ceremony was the crowning touch on the happiest day of our lives.
