At Calgary Bride, it comes as no surprise that we are all about local. Supporting the wedding professionals in Calgary, Alberta and Western Canada is what this blog was born to do and we are pumped to show off the work of a talented team of collaborators who came together for today's bridal fashion inspiration shoot.
Cameron May Photography, Kismet & Clover and BEACH Beauty all collaborated on a shoot designed around the ethereal and whimsical gowns of local Calgary wedding dress designer Laura George. Laura George grew up in Lethbridge, and after graduating from the prestigious Fashion Design program at Ryerson University, she returned home to Alberta to focus on growing her own line of bridal attire. Her gowns have shown at both Bridal Expo and The Wedding Fair, and every year, she dresses brides in custom wedding gowns that become family heirlooms.
Here's what photographer Cameron May had to say about the shoot:
When planning this photoshoot we knew we wanted to work with local wedding gown designer Laura George to showcase the versatility in her wedding gown line. The dresses speak for themselves, so in collaboration with local planner/stylists Kismet & Clover, we kept the styling minimal in order to focus on the features of the dresses. We chose The Commons as a venue because of its beautiful urban industrial aesthetic. Our model Kiya’s tattoos lent themselves perfectly to the space while Laura’s dresses helped bring out the soft, elegant sophistication reflected in the chandeliers and the flower garland. To give a slightly different vibe to the flower garland installation, BEACH Beauty, skillfully added more soft, pastel accents to Kiya’s makeup. Kismet & Clover’s garland installation added a perfect touch of femininity, while their kite installation added a hint of summer whimsy. All in all we had a lot fun creating this shoot and working a talented team of local vendors.
