Tips for Great Online Submissions

Calgary Bride is a community based wedding blog – that means we accept submissions from any one with a passion for weddings and great photos to share! You don’t have to be an advertiser to get your photos published – you don’t even have to be a professional! We accept submissions from any brand, business or any couples that want to have their wedding featured. For couples, this is a great way to share a curated set of your wedding photos with friends and family all over the web!

So here’s the low down on the best way to get published (over and over again!) on CalgaryBride.ca

  • Money shots We ask that submissions include a minimum of 15 photos and a maximum of 50 photos. Here are the photos that really connect with our audience and brides love to see

    • Full length dress shots – either from the side, or from the front (and hey, back shots don’t hurt either!)
    • Close up of the bouquet, where the bride is holding the bouquet in front of her (like the one above!)
    • Brides and bridesmaids – we want to see the ladies in all their fashion glory!
    • Close ups of hair and make up – this is great because if brides want to re-create a beauty look, they have a close up they can show their makeup artists or hair stylish
    • Close ups of decor – Individual place settings, centre pieces, linens
    • First dance shots – because we love them and we want more of them!!
  • Resize and organize

    • When you’re submitting your photos, we accept Dropbox folders or PASS downloads, which ever is easiest for you!
    • We ask that photos are sized to 700 pixels wide, as that’s the best format for our blog
    • Your photos tell a story so it’s best if you organize and number your files in the order you’d like them to appear on the blog.
  • Credit where credit is due

    • Do your best to provide the necessary credits for publication – the names of all the participating vendors, and provide the websites or URL’s for these vendors. We can only credit the names who are submitted to us so please be as thorough as you can as we don’t leave anyone out!
  • Share the love!

    • We always send out an email to all the credited vendors, letting them know that their work has been featured on CalgaryBride.ca but it doesn’t hurt if you do some follow up as well. It builds you goodwill within the community and can start new relationships, and as well, it gets your post seen far and wide – the more times the linked is shared, the more people will see your photos! Definitely make sure the bride and groom see the link, as proud couples can boost your word of mouth advertising when they send it out.

So! Where do you submit?? Send an email to our Online Editor, Alix ( alix{at}calgarybride.ca )and she’ll gladly review your submission.
