Tips for De-Stressing Before Your Wedding

Let’s be real – the less stressed out you are the day of your wedding, the more fun you’re going to have! But staying relaxed on your wedding day is easier said than done. With so much anticipation and so many moving parts, how can you possibly keep your nerves and emotions at bay? Look at it this way – start your day the way you want it to finish. By creating a routine that encourages these four things:

Exercise:  A walk around the block with your “bestie”, a bike ride through the mountains, an exercise boot camp or dance class – whatever exercise you’re most comfortable with, start incorporating that into your weekly routine. The myriad of benefits of regular exercise include reducing stress and boosting energy, two things that are guaranteed to help keep you grounded.

Meditation: If you’ve never considered meditation before, now is a great time to get started. As little as ten minutes a day can go a long way, plus you don’t even need to change your clothes or leave your house to do it. Meditation is proven to strengthen your focus, allowing you to seriously knock items off that to-do list, as well as boost immunity, meaning your body can fight back harder against any colds you might start coming down with. If you’ve never tried meditating before, start with an app like “Headspace” to teach you the ins and outs of this addictive practice.

Organization: The mother of all stress relievers. The act of creating a to-do list is proven to reduce stress, so imaging what staying on top of all your planning could do for your stress levels?! Some easy ways to get more organized are: answering emails as soon as you receive them (within 24 hours), keeping all your wedding documents in one place, and focusing on doing one thing at a time instead of multi-tasking and risking becoming overwhelmed.

Netflix and Put Your Phone Down: If you find you’re thinking about your wedding 24/7, that’s not good for you, especially if you’re stressed about it. Blocking out time to binge watch TV shows or movies and clear your mind is critical to your own well being, as well as your relationship.
