Impromptu Backyard Wedding Styled Shoot

Today’s Calgary wedding inspiration shoot has all our party feelers tingling! Photographed by Calgary wedding photographer Christy D. Swanberg’s Photography and planned by Calgary wedding decor company Orange Trunk Vintage Rentals and Styling, this is a totally fresh take on a backyard wedding. Filled with rich colours, great food and naturally inspired decor, this shoot focuses on the bride and groom, and their guests. You can feel the joyous energy radiating through these fantastic images. Enough from us – meet the entire Creative Team and hear more about what inspired them after the jump!

From the Creative Team:

“When your eyes met mine, my soul pointed at you and whispered to my heart, him” LR

Backyards are meant for cozy parties, memories to be held closely and lots of laughter. So, why not invite your most favourite people over and say i do in your backyard at sunset.

Heather from Orange Trunk had an idea of an surprise elopement with only one’s closest friends while incorporating some unique elements of course, like she does in all her shoots. She choose to draw inspiration from the bold designs by Anthropologie. Navy blues, fuchsia, and gold where the palate colours for all the creative to work off of. She has a huge inventory from furniture, decor and details to choose from but she selected specific pieces that would work well in a backyard intimate setting while also mixing pieces that the couple would actually also have in their home. It was a great use of vintage and new.

To make sure the shoot had a modern feel, Heather had Tina of Tina Vidak Designs to custom make ceramic pottery dishes that were unlike anything we have ever seen to date in a wedding shoot. She then contacted The Knot Garden and they dreamed up the macrame light fixtures and vase holders that made the outside feel like inside one’s home. The entire backyard felt inviting.

Sweet Bloom Floral Designs too the colour palate that was given to them and took it to the next level with her variety of shades and seasonal blooms. Her work was simply masterpieces.

Can we talk about the food?!?!? Wow, Food Works did an amazing job. Not only was the food beautiful but it was quite tasty. (I ate more than I should have while taking the pictures.) And, of course if you are gonna get married in your favourite backyard, you gotta have pie, stead of a cake. So, Pies Plus Cafe gave us one their most ordered pies, cherry rhubarb.  Finally, the models, who were all actual real couples, were outfitted by Calgary’s own Adorn Boutique and Espy Experience. The ladies hair their hair and makeup done by Trena Laine Makeup Studio and Hammerheadz Salon. If you ask me, they were stunning. The whole shoot was and it even makes me want to throw a beautiful party in my backyard just cause.
